N1 Health Selected for Amazon Web Services (AWS) Health Equity Initiative

N1 Health will receive computing credits and technical expertise from Amazon Web Services for creating a toolset to measure and identify interventions to reduce Health Equity disparities

Boston, MA (August 2023) — N1 Health today announced that it has been selected as part of the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Health Equity Initiative, a $40 million, three-year commitment, supporting organizations that are developing solutions to advance health equity.

Through the initiative, AWS offers AWS credits and customized technical expertise to selected organizations around the world that want to use AWS services to improve health outcomes and health equity in any of the following areas: 1) increasing access to health services for underserved communities; 2) addressing social determinants of health; 3) leveraging data to promote more equitable and inclusive systems of care; and 4) advancing equity in diagnostics and screening.

AWS support will advance N1 Health’s efforts to leverage AI Models and large datasets to increase patient engagement and deliver personalized interventions. N1 Health has demonstrated 10x increases in engagement among underserved populations. However, without relevant technology solutions, reducing Health Equity disparities is not addressed by or sustainable for most payors today. This project will align payors to CMS’ Framework for Health Equity by collecting and analyzing data to address inequities. This initiative aims to create a nationwide toolset, powered by AWS, for measuring and visualizing health equity disparities by region and healthcare system. This will enable payors to take effective action to reduce these disparities to not just meet, but exceed CMS regulations for Health Equity.

N1 Health will utilize AWS technology for big data aggregation, storage, AWS services, and technology integration to provide reporting dashboards and visual insights. AWS tooling will provide the infrastructure and security required for maintaining health care data. This initiative will enhance N1 Health’s AI models to better detect health disparities. These visualizations, combined with customer data, will provide region-specific insights into social risk indicators and healthcare access trends.

This initiative will supply health payors and systems with objective data and personalized, actionable recommendations to prioritize and target outreach to disadvantaged members. Traditionally, payor outreach has been time and resource intensive as they move down a list alphabetically, without the tooling, insights or enhanced contact information required to equitably deploy resources and drive better equity in access to care and services. This initiative will add those insights and contact information as well as display clinical and social program access to healthcare executives. During this initiative we will launch the broader dashboard across 10+ states in the US, and work with our customers that represent over 3 million lives across Medicaid, Medicare, dual eligible, and ACA members, to run targeted clinical and social programs for those at-risk populations.

“AWS believes individual health outcomes should not depend on socioeconomic status, race, ethnicity, or neighborhood, “said Maggie Carter, Global Lead, Social Impact at AWS. “Cloud technology can help address inequities in global health to expand access to the services people need to live longer, healthier lives–no matter who they are or where they live. Through the AWS Health Equity Initiative, we look forward to helping N1 Health and other organizations worldwide use the power of cloud computing to advance health equity and improve health outcomes.”
